Get in touch

Tennis Court Contractors are experts at installing porous macadam sports surfacing in Cluer / Cliuthar HS3 3 and can offer the best quality service at a great price.

The tarmacadam surfacing is used for multi use games areas in the UK it is a porous open textured all-weather system which allows the drainage of surface water and ensuring that it is SUDs compliant flooring. This permeable nature is perfect for the United Kingdom as the weather is often unpredictable.

With a tarmacadam, court play can resume soon after rainfall allowing you to get more use from the sports court in your sports clubs. Open textured tarmacadam surfaces are coated in polyurethane paint to ensure that they meet the LTA and ITF slip rating standards whilst also making the tennis court unique to the particular organisation.

WE OFFER FREE NO OBLIGATION QUOTATIONS

Tarmac surfaces can now be found all over the country as a nice alternative to artificial grass or polymeric rubberised surface as they are low maintenance and more professional looking. The main places you can expect to see this specialised sports surfacing include:

  • Schools - Primary and secondary schools in the UK opt for tarmac all-weather surfacing with colour coating and line markings for a multiple of different sports.

  • Colleges - Can benefit from a porous open textured tennis facility that can be used all year round.

  • Universities – Top quality SuDS compliant surface meeting ITF and LTA accreditations.

  • Sports clubs – Tennis clubs updating their facility with tarmacadam flooring.

Macadam surfaces are constructed to SAPCA regulations, and it is always advised you get a local experienced contractor with specialist knowledge in constructing and installing macadam facilities. As an alternative to the macadam specification, we may also install polymeric rubber courts in Cluer / Cliuthar http://tenniscourtcontractors.co.uk/surfaces/polymeric-rubber-crumb-surfaces/western-isles/cluer-cliuthar which provide slightly different playing qualities.

Make sure you contact us for more details on each of these court surface types, and we'll get back to you with some advice on the costs for installing them to a tennis court.

How to Build a Tarmac Tennis Court

If you're looking at how to build a tarmac sport court, the basic steps are as follows:

  1. Dig out the existing surface

  2. Install base layer

  3. Lay tarmac wearing course

  4. Install polyurethane binder coat

  5. Paint the surfacing with non-slip colour coating

  6. Apply game line markings in the colours of your choice

A common build-up of a tarmacadam court includes a 50mm base layer of tarmacadam made up of 20mm aggregates and 25mm tarmac wearing course made up of 6mm aggregates; this gives the sports facility a stable and level surface that is porous, durable and hard-wearing.

The macadam surface is topped off with water-based acrylic paint coatings in Cluer / Cliuthar HS3 3 or a moisture curing polyurethane paint coating to give the surfacing colour and required anti slip rating, e.g. ITF, LTA and SAPCA regulations state that a tennis facility should have an anti slip rating of TRRL 55. SR75 non-slip paint is specified for the slip resistance for netball playing characteristics. Macadam Painting Company in Cluer / Cliuthar

As nearby professional macadam tennis court contractors, we can also carry out painting of tarmac services. Our tarmacadam painting company includes professionals who know exactly how to paint the flooring to make the colour coating last a long time.

We may install anti slip painting in several different colours to meet individual needs and requirements. We may then apply line-markings to the court after the colour coating is complete to allow for accurate gameplay.

Permeable Tarmac Sports Surfaces

Tarmac court construction normally includes excavation of existing surrounding areas, inserting PCC edges and laying compacted MOT type 1 stone to the area to act as a solid foundation for the surface. This is then followed by the base and wearing course surface, polyurethane anti-slip paint and game line markings for slip resistance.

Full construction of a sports facility may exceed the budgets of many organisations within the UK however it's also possible to transform existing MUGAs and sports surfaces with a rip-up and replace and save the cost of groundworks. If you already have an existing flooring and would like an all-weather macadam surface, it is possible to explore all the avenues to upgrade your court.
